Acting on the allegation of acquisition of disproportionate assets, Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids on houses and office roome of Bargarh district’s Sohella CHC in-charge Medical Officer Dr Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra and detected assets worth Rs 2,47,74,347 in his and his family members’ names.
Mohapatra’s residential building at Sohella, paternal house at Chhendipada in Angul district, father-in-law’s house in Cuttack town and office chamber at Sohella CHC were searched.
The detected assets include building at Sohella of Rs 30 lakh, an half-constructed building having 70 rooms worth Rs 40 lakh, 33 plots at Sohella and Chendipada of Rs 10, 85, 350, two cars and a motorcycle together worth Rs 15 lakh, household articles of Rs 7 lakh, gold ornaments of Rs 15,57,646, hard cash of Rs 7,62,000, bank and Post Office deposits of Rs 69, 69, 351 and insurance deposits of Rs 52 lakh.
Deposits in different banks and Post offices and immovable assets in different towns were still under verification. The enquiry was in progress, said an official release.
