Smart owners of Jio SIM: Day in city mall

TAPAN ROUT

Now-a-days, the “Jio” has made quite a splash in SIM customers’ circles. The benefits are galore to woo the people which are stealing the show as reports speak for itself about the greater demand of the SIM in all classes of people.

The Reliance firm that provides the SIM is swamped with orders from across the country; so also is the Jio SIM center at Bhubaneswar Reliance Mall, near the Main Railway Station. One of my close associates had sent link to get my barcode in 4G enabled set mobile. It prompted me to post in Whatsapp group.

later on the day, it didn’t go unnoticed by my IT top notched professional friend in that group and soon he intimated me to uninstall the link as it may harm the device since it was not reliable. Rather he advised me to go through a process instructed in Jio SIM center. Having obtained the prerequisite barcode in process, I rushed to Jio center and was perplexed to see a large number of people there. The number of the people was far more than could be expected in temples for “Janmastami” or in Puja Pandals for lord Ganesh or during the Dussehra. Even there a few weeks ago, a mad rush was conspicuously witnessed in the vicinity of the mall which put vehicular traffic to a crawl.

I went on the off chance only to find the jostled up of customers and many of them were losing their control. Even some people dragged tube chairs in disappointment of not getting a SIM. Those fortunate ones who got it mocked at the empty handed persons. It was a scene of great hustle-bustle as if it was an exclusive center for glided youth.

The people who could not lay their hand on a SIM faced the double whammy as down the stairs there was a huge traffic jam on the main gate of the mall and it was difficult to move anywhere from the place. Many acquaintances were smiling but it fell flat on them because it was ill timed, when they asked in despair having waited hours together to security officer to open alternative gate at back of mall but to no avail.

I have got a Jio SIM fortunately, and it is activated to reap the benefits. It is fine for a year or so as the SIM has a lot of benefits. We have come a long way since the days we had to pay over `100-`500 for obtaining GBs data or encroached upon roadside wherever free WiFi was accessible. The strategy to benefit a common man should remain the alpha and omega of the Government policy.
