On Tuesday, a special musical night “Pilanka Akshaya” was organised on virtual platform as a tribute to the Legendary singer, lyricist and music director late Akshaya Mohanty. In a unique way children paid homage to the icon of Odia music on his 18th Death Anniversary.
Singer of the young generation Smaranika Nayak honoured with prestigious ‘Pilanka Akshaya Samman 2020.' Eminent music director and singer Laxmikant Palit, singer Bibhu Das, Bandita Das and senior artist Banchhanidhi Pattnaik were the guests of the evening.
They threw lights on the different aspects of the life of the legendary singer. Among others, Executive Director, PECUC (People’s Cultural Centre), Anuradha Mohanty, Rotarian Dibya Ranjan Dash of Rotary Club of UNIQUE and ournalist Madhabananda Behura spoke and paid their homage to the Mohanty.
While PECUC chairman Minakshi Panda presided, PECUC secretary Ranjan Kumar Mohanty announced the name of the winner of the Pilanka Akshaya Samman Award 2020.
The PECUC is giving this award to a singer below 18 years of age since year 2003.Children sang everlasting songs of Akshaya Mohanty on the occasion.
