The Khallikote Cluster University would be full-fledged soon with six new post-graduate departments and appointment of required number of teachers.
The Higher Education Department has issued an order in this regard, sources said.
The new departments which would be opened are Economics and Management, library and Information Science, Natural Resources, Management and Geo Informatics, Mass Communication and Media Technology, Travel, Tourism and Hospital Management and Bio Science and Bioinformatics. One Professor, two Associate Professors and four Assistant Professors would be appointed in each department. Accordingly, a total of 42 Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor posts would be created.
According to the decision, teaching would begin in all these departments from the 2018-19 academic sessions.
It may be noted that though the university came into being in 2015, PG classes yet to begin. The university is still operating in the Khallikote Autonomous College campus as it has no campus of its own. Meanwhile, Prof Amarendra Narayan Mishra has taken over charge as the Vice Chancellor.
Though 20 acres of land have been allotted at the Palur Hills for campus, construction works have not yet started due to unavailability of funds from the Government.
Primary talks for construction of buildings have started. A Building Committee will be formed soon,” Mishra said.
He too informed that a Syndicate meeting would be convened soon to decide on appointment of various posts.
