SIT resumes probe in Parala quadruple murder

A four-member team of the Special Investigating Team (SIT) of the Crime Branch headed by an Additional SP-rank officer on Monday visited Paralakhemundi and resumed its second-phase probe into the controversial suicide pact by the four family members of the Parala Maharaja’s former manager.

The investigating sleuths quizzed staffs of a flex printing outlet. The team would also interrogate family members and some close relatives of king’s former manager Anang Manjari Patra. Besides, some officials of the royal palace are likely to be quizzed, sources said.

While the Crime Branch has apparently given a clean chit to the Anang and her family members in the alleged property grabbing case, it would look for other angels which forced them to take the extreme step. The viscera test report of Tulu Patra, Anang’s brother, confirmed that his death was due to drug overdose.

Anang Manjari and her brother Sanjay, both formerly managers to Parala King Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb and the royal estate, were found dead in their home in Paralakhemundi along with another sister Bijaylaxmi Patra on August 22. While three, including Anang had died after consuming poison, Tulu Patra, rescued in a critical condition from the spot, died on August 23 day at the MKCG Medical College Hospital, Brahmapur.
