A six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Crime Branch along with a four-member forensic team arrived here and started investigation into the mysterious death of Parala palace’s former manager Anang Manjari Patra and her three siblings.

The team headed by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) RB Panigrahi first visited the Gajapati Police Community Centre located near the Paralakhemundi police station and held talks with police officials and then visited Anang Manjari’s Jangam Street house, where she and her three siblings allegedly committed suicide.

Sources said the team seized some blank soft drink bottles, a cap-less pen and water bottles and sent them for forensic tests.

“We have seized some articles and sent them for forensic test,” said BB Ratha of the Scientific Team.

Parlakhemundi SDPO Utkal Ranjan Das and IIC Babuli Nayak accompanied the SIT.

Besides SIT chief Panigrahi, the other members of the SIT included PK Das, Sradhanjali Panda and Radha Gobinda Panigrahi.

The team would probe the death of the four persons in what prima facie appears to be a case of a suicide pact and also inquire the circumstances under which Anang Manjari and her three siblings died and the reason behind their death.

Besides, the team also brought the FIR filed by Anang Manjari’s another brother Amulya Patra on Monday under the purview of investigation, sources said.

The three suicide notes and a diary recovered from the house of Anang Manjari would play a vital role in the investigation process.

On Sunday, the bodies of Anang Manjari and her two siblings were recovered from her bolted house while her another brother Tulu Patra, who was rescued in a critical condition from the house, died at the MKCG Medical College Hospital in Brahmapur on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, sources in the CB said its Economic Offences Wing (EOW) would probe the financial transactions of the palace.
