Sishu Bhawan death: BJP demands for CM's scalp

PNS

The BJP on Tuesday demanded resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the issue of serial death of children in Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack.

Briefing mediapersons here, BJP legislature party leader   Basanta Panda criticised the State Government for playing with the lives of innocent children by not properly maintaining the hospital.

Panda alleged that brokers of private nursing homes and pathology centres outside the Sishu Bhawan are exploiting the family members of the patients because the hospital has not adequate systems for different tests.

He alleged that senior doctors remain absent in the hospital most of the time, especially at night, as a result of which the children cannot get urgent attention at the time of need. More than 400 children come to the hospital for treatment daily, but it has only 21 ICUs, he added.

“Why the Health Minister or the Chief Minister doesn’t visit to the Sishu Bhawan after the death of 27 childrenIJ The lackadaisical attitude of the State Government is to be blamed for the tragedy in Sishu Bhawan,” alleged Panda.
