The Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district would reopen for tourists on November 1. The park and its tiger reserve had been closed since mid-June for monsoon.

“Each day 35 four-wheelers will be allowed into the park through the Kaliapani check-gate (Jashipur) and 25 through the Peethabata check-gate. Tourists can book their entry passes from the booking counters at these check-gates between 6 am and 9 am. Tourists will be required to leave the Barehipani waterfall and Joranda before 3 pm and the Chahala waterfall by 4 pm. They have to leave the park by 5 pm,” informed the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) Field Director.

In the event of a vehicle breakdown in the national park for some reason, Tiger Reserve authorities would make arrangements for the return of the tourists against an advance deposit of Rs 3,000, the official added.

Notably, the STR has a rich wildlife and many picturesque places to visit including Chahala, Barehipani, Jaranda, Naana, Gududia and Jamuani, which attract hundreds of visitors every year.
