Shutdown a political gimmick: Congress

PNS

District Congress unit here criticised the ruling BJD for organising a hartal under the plea of Centre’s neglect to the State and dubbed the move as a political gimmick

On the one hand, the Central fund remains unspent and there are irregularities and scams in the implantation of various schemes, while on the other, there is a constant allegation of Centre’s apathy.

This is a game plan of the Chief Minister to get political mileage during the forthcoming elections, the party alleged in a Press release. The party also described the BJD’s insistence for special category status for the State as hypocrisy since the State Government lacks sincerity of purpose.

The State has received more quantum of grant during the Congress-ledUPA regime than during the NDA of which the BJD was a partner, informed district Congress president Padmalochan Panda.

The BRGF is being extended to 272 out of 640 districts of the country, while in Odisha, only six districts are covered under the special scheme. He held the State Government responsible for this. The Maoist menace has increased spreading to 20 districts since the Central assistances are not spent in the appropriate manner, Panda alleged.  He informed that since 1969, while 11 States are enjoying the special category status under special conditions, Odisha didn’t fulfill the conditions.
