In a glaring example of breach in the security arrangements at the highly sensitive Jagannath Temple here, pictures of the shrine’s interior have gone viral on social media.
A tourist from New Delhi, Megha Luthra, uploaded the photos of the interiors of the temple on her Facebook account.
Megha, who works as a cabin crew member of the IndiGo airlines, uploaded the pictures on Saturday with the caption ‘Ek Dham Yatra’.
The photos are taken from Anand Bazaar and have the Bhoga Mandap and the Nata Mandap in frame.
The incident has exposed the poor security arrangements at the world-famous shrine by police and the temple administration despite the intelligence inputs that the Shreemandir is on the radar of terror outfits.
After the picture posting came to the fore, it has triggered deep resentment among the devotees and people of the State.
It is worth mentioning that use of smartphones and other electronic gadgets inside the 12th-century shrine are strictly prohibited.
This is the second instance of Shreemandir interior pictures going viral on social media. Earlier on October 9, a Sub-Inspector of the Puri Sea Beach police station had uploaded the interior pictures of the shrine, following which he was suspended by the DGP.
