Shradhanjal appears before ED again

PNS

Honey-trapper Archana Nag’s associate Shradhanjali Behera appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here for a third time on Saturday.

Earlier, she had been avoiding summons and not cooperating in the probe with the agency. While refusing to grant her interim protection, the Orissa High Court had asked her to cooperate with the ED.

Archana had allegedly deposited a significant amount of money in Shradhanjali’s bank account. The latter had accused Archana of forcing her into prostitution and luring people to extort money from them by blackmailing.

As Archana and her husband Jagabandhu Chand are not cooperating in the investigations, it is apprehended that Shradhanjali would be interrogated face to face with the couple.

The ED took Archana again on a six-day remand since it had failed to extract much information about her suspicious money transactions in the first phase of interrogation. She has been in judicial custody since her arrest by the Khandagiri police on October 6. Her husband was arrested by police on October 21 and the court allowed the ED to take him on a nine-day remand for interrogation.

Meanwhile, the ED has seized a diary belonging to Archana and it is expected to shed light on her honey-trap and extortion racket and her victims and the money transacted.
