Shopping complex by B'swar administration faces protest

PNS

Construction of a shopping complex on the railway station road has been protested here with civil society body, Ama Baleswar coming down heavily on the administration for flouting court order.

The members of the organisation stated that the Orissa High Court has stayed the construction on the site.

They said that the station road leading to Baleswar railway station was cleared from all sorts of encroachments through an eviction drive for widening the road. But after a few months, the municipality again undertook construction in the patches in front of office of the Works department.

Interestingly, the construction while not has not completed yet, some influential people having unfair nexus with the administration after occupying the partially completed rooms have placed some furniture only to show that the property was in their possession.

The body further alleged that illegal hording and displays were causing several traffic problems when hardly any space left for parking of vehicles. It threatened to intensify agitation, if the shopping complex construction work was not stopped.

Bijay Panigrahi, Girija Shankar Das, Santosh Sahu, Prabir Shankar Dash and M Iqbal were present.
