The Forum for Ganjam, a city-based civil society organisation, on Friday met the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Southern Division demanding speedy execution of the multistoried college building of the Khallikote Junior College here at its existing place.
A delegation led by forum chairman Prof PK Sahu submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through the RDC demanding non-shifting of the college from its existing campus in the city.
Sahu said there is a proposal pending with the chief architect of the PWD Department for finalisation of the design of a five-storied building in the old NCC building near the college. “Instead of speedy execution of the proposed multi-storied college building, now some vested interests are trying to shift the great college to Jagannathpur, 10 km away from the existing college, which is beyond the reach of all segments of students especially the girls,” he added.
The members urged the Chief Minister in the memorandum to issue necessary instruction for speedy execution of multistoried building of the Khallikote Junior College in its existing place.
