PNS

A youth of Sundargarh has been missing for the last two months and his family members, who are apprehensive that he might have been killed, met the Superintendent of Police on Monday for a probe into the incident.

Even if four persons who were accompanying him after purchasing a boat claimed that the youth fell inside the Ib river while crossing the river, the family members suspect that he might have been murdered.

Dipak Oram (24), a resident of Junadih village under Sadar police station in Sundargarh, on August 12 had gone to Abanikela village to bring a new boat. Gati Tiga, Basant Naik, Uner Kujur and Fakir Tiga of same village had accompanied him. On August 13, the four people accompanying Dipak had returned back with a new boat, while they had no clue about Dipak.

According to sources, boat owner Gati Tiga after reaching at his village along with three other people had returned a shirt and a mobile phone of Dipak to his family members but could not tell anything about Dipak. All he told was that after taking liquor, Dipak had gone somewhere and had not returned with them.

The family members of Dipak had made a frantic search for Dipak but could not trace him. On August 16, Dipak’s brother lodged an FIR in Sadar police station and mentioned in FIR that Dipak might have been killed by those four persons including Gati Tiga who were accompanying him and thereafter they might have thrown him inside river.

The Sadar police had registered a murder case and interrogated the four suspected. Police had started searching Dipak, but could not locate him. When Dipak could not be traced, Sundargarh police had formed a two- member team to locate Dipak and also informed all the IICs of the police stations till Hirakud about Dipak’s missing and had told them to inform if Dipak is located. But when Sundargarh police did not get any information about Dipak from any source, Sundargarh police recently had conducted polygraph test of Basant Naik, Uner Kujur and Fakir Tiga at Bhubaneswar. But since Gati Tiga has been hiding, his polygraph test could not be done. Police are now searching him to nab him and do his polygraph test.
