The lahunipada police on Thursday arrested one Duskant Mohanta (21) on charges of killing a minor girl Sunita Mohanta (16), a resident of Ganighasa village under this police station in Noida. According to police, Duskant of Keonjhar district came in contact with Sunita in a marriage party and in March last year gave marriage proposal to the latter’s family members.
He even persuaded her parents to allow him to take Sunita to Noida, his workplace assuring them of marrying their daughter. Due to Duskant’s constant persistence, the victim’s parents allowed Sunita to go with Duskant. In Noida both of them had started living as husband and wife in a rented house. However, after few days while Duskant returned his home in Keonjhar while Sunita didn’t.
On January 13, the victim’s family members managed to nab Duskant while he was visiting one of his relative’s houses under lahunipada police station and handed over to police. Meanwhile, lahunipada police station IIC RK Sahoo said the Noida police confirmed them about retrieval of a decomposed body from a drain where Duskant was staying. A team of police officers will soon leave for Noida for investigation, he added.
