After two years of marriage, a woman allegedly got married to another person, when her first husband was out of station, for attending a cousin's marriage.
Coming to know about the incident, the first husband returned back cancelling his tour programme and lodged a complaint with police but when the police did not take any action, he appeared in the marriage reception party on Wednesday evening and circulated his marriage certificate and some pictures of their marriage there.
After being embarrassed with the development, the new bride groom family dumped the girl in her house on Thursday where as first husband in a Press meet here on Thursday claimed that he will file a case in a local court.
Sources said Mananjay Choubey (34), a resident of Bondamunda area of Sundargarh district, had married one Manorama Nayak (30) in marriage registration office, Rourkela on September 12, 2016, following their love relationship for about a year. Choubey's parents, however, had opposed to the marriage, due to which the couple had formally married in a legal way and were staying in a rented quarter in Civil township area in Rourkela.
As per the complaint of Choubey, they were in a good relationship and were enjoying life. On February 24, 2018, Choubey reportedly had left his house for Banaras, to attend marriage ceremony of one of his cousins, dropping her wife at his in-laws’ house.
The couple, however, was in constant touch with each other over phone till March 3. On March 4, Choubey got no reply from his wife's phone constantly, since March 4 morning.
He tried with numbers of his father in-law and mother in-law and also found no reply. In the evening, when he called his mother in-law from a local number from Banaras and wanted to know whereabouts of Manorama, she reportedly told him that she was busy as for Manorama’s marriage. "For a moment, I could not believe her words and asked again but she confirmed again by taking my wife's name, following which I was shocked," said Choubey.
The Rourkela police although confirmed that they have received a complaint from Choubey, with allegation of second marriage by his wife, they confirmed that the case was yet to be registered.
