S'garh MlA can't vote: Speaker

PNS

Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat on Tuesday informed the Assembly that Congress’ Sundergarh MlA Jogesh Singh can participate in the House proceedings baring voting process.

The Speaker made this announcement in the wake of the interim stay order granted by Supreme Court on the Orissa High Court’s verdict that disqualified his election as a MlA.

Singh had won the Sundargarh seat, reserved for scheduled tribe, in the 2014 elections defeating BJD’s Kusum Tete by around 12,500 votes.

BJP candidate Sahadev Xaxa, who had lost the election and one Ajay Kumar Patel, a voter had challenged the Singh’s election on the ground that the legislator had filed false affidavits relating to his caste and property details.
