A married woman of Sundargarh and a married man of Jharsuguda district, who had eloped, committed suicide by consuming poison on Thursday at Rengali area under Jharsuguda district.
The deceased were identified as Sujata Solanki (35), mother of a child and Shankar Pradhan, father of three children, a resident of Machidagaon under Rengali police station.
According to sources, Sujata had quarreled with her husband on Wednesday and had told him she would not stay with him. Shankar, her old acquaintance, had
come to Hemgiri on Wednesday and Sujata as per their plan eloped with Shankar on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, locals of Machidagaon, however, had noticed Sujata and Shankar lying near the house of Shankar in critical condition after consuming poison.
The locals sent the duo to lakhanpur hospital but doctors declared them brought dead. After getting information, the Rengali police seized the bodies and sent them for post mortem. An investigation was on.
