like the Bollywood movie Judai, in which a woman sells her husband to another woman for property,  a real life tale has come to fore in Sundargarh district where a person convinced his wife to marry his cousin brother and he himself later married to a widow having two children for property.

One Chitrasen Palei (26), a resident of Uparginia village under lahunipada block in Sundargarh district, had married Namita Khuntia (21) of Ganeswarpur village in Pallahada area of Angul district about one year ago.

After a few months of marriage, Chitrasen left Namita at her parents’ house and went to Koira to work as a security guard. He was staying with his cousin brother Pabitra Mohan Palei, a driver in Koira.

Meanwhile, Chitrasen fell in love with a widow of Kamanda village.

When the widow’s parents lured Chitrasen to marry their daughter with heavy dowries in return, Chitrasen accepted the proposal and married her.

Being informed, Namita rushed to the house of Chitrasen. However, Chitrasen convinced Pabitra, whose wife Reena was staying at her parents’ house since she was tortured by Pabitra’s family members for dowry, to marry Namita in return of Rs 1lakh and a motorcycle as dowry. Accordingly, Chitrasen sent Namita with Pabitra giving Rs 20,000 and a motorcycle.

later, Reena lodged a complaint at the Mahulpada police station, following which the police arrested and court-forwarded Pabitra and his parents on Tuesday. A search is on to nab main accused Chitrasen and his mother Santi Palei, said Mahulpada police station OIC A Gardia.
