Vigilance officials arrested Industries Promotion Officer Paritosh Patnaik (57) of the Sundargarh District Industries Center and forwarded him to the Sambalpur Vigilance Court on Thursday for demanding and accepting bribe.
Patnaik had demanded Rs1000 bribe from one Roshan Naik for processing his project report for approval. The complainant alleged that he had submitted a project report at the DIC seeking approval for setting up a fabrication unit. IPO Patnaik demanded Rs1000 from Naik for processing his project report for approval.
Naik had given Rs200 at that time. The accused asked Naik to give the rest amount on Thursday. later, Naik lodged a complaint, following which a Vigilance team caught the IPO red-handed.
