S'garh forum for fast justice

PNS

The Sundargarh Forum for Fast Justice, besides several other forums, would work as a pressure group for the time-bound delivery of justice and to reduce the pendency of litigations in the country. This was stated by eminent speakers at the inaugural ceremony of the forum here on Tuesday.

Presiding over the meeting, forum chairman Baidyanath Mishra introduced the members and called upon young lawyers to take up the cudgels with a brave heart and innovative mind. Contemporary issues concerning the judiciary must be debated by the youths as their future is at stake, he said.

Senior advocate Nimai Naik as the chief speaker lashed out at the present judicial system where the lawyers have been paralyzed. MPs and MlAs are deciding their salary whereas advocates who are supposed to guide the judges are running from pillar to post to feed them. Citing the example of the Babri Masjid demolition case which is lingering for the last 44 years, he said, pendency of litigation in courts has increased several folds and it is the organizations like Sundargarh Forum for Fast Justice to build up a mass movement to force the legislature to work out a quick judgment delivery system by bringing in necessary judicial reforms.

Advocate cum journalist Narayan Prasad Das advised the new forum to prepare a blue print and involve the youths to carry forward the agenda as Bar Associations cannot provide platforms for their young brigade because of conflict in professional interest. BC Patel, another senior lawyer, said the forum should be more focused with their limited agenda, rather than pursuing divergent views in the vast ocean of judiciary. Debendra Panda, a senior member of Rourkela Bar Association, said that penetration into the constitutional boundary of law and seeking judicial reforms is an uphill task. Jugal Swain, Minaketan Naik and Surama Mishra participated in the interaction session.

Trustee Ananta Narayan Sahoo spoke about the plight of the lawyers in the present system and procedures and trustee Durga Das Toppo offered the vote of thanks.  Ashok Kumar Sahu, Swarup Mishra, Pranab Sengupta and Mahesh Jaiswal were the facilitators.
