Set up Cow Service Panel: CM urged

PNS

The Odisha Gau Raksha Dal has urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to constitute a Cow Service Commission to check cow slaughter and illegal cattle transportation from the State at the earliest.

In a memorandum sent to the Chief Minister, the Dal demanded that the State Government take all steps, as per Article 48 of the Constitution, to prohibit the slaughter of cows and calves and other milch and draught cattle.

“Illegal transportation of cattle from Odisha to other States is increasing day by day. If this trend persists, there will be no cattle in Odisha in near future. All these are happening despite prohibitions made in the Article 48 of the Constitution,” read the memorandum submitted by Dal’s chief conservator and Orissa High Court Bar Association lifetime member Sangram Keshari Satpathy.

Satpathy demanded that Odisha Cow Service Commission be constituted as done by States like Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh under the guidelines of the National Commission on Cattle.

Earlier, Satpahty had too submitted a memorandum to the Cuttack district Collector in this regard.
