Following restrictions by the Supreme Court on Daan and Dhakhina (donations) being received by the servitors of the Jagannath Temple, the visit of the petitioner in the case to the shrine on Friday sparked off a row.
The petitioner in SC Mrunalini Padhee was given special privileges allegedly by a temple staff, which raised a controversy among the servitors. Sources said that
Padhee who is a law professional visited the shrine on last Friday. During her visit, she was escorted by a temple staff, said sources.
Even when she returned from the temple, the staff was with her, who gave her a last see-off at the exit-door, if sources are to be believed.
That of course came to sight of some servitors, who fumed at Padhee’s ally with a temple staff. As she was a party against the temple administration in the SC following the donations and other issues, how a staff gave her special privileges throughout her visit, the servitors asked.
