Series of loots in Khordha trigger panic

PNS

In a series of loots, six shops were targeted by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday night near Taratua Chhak at Sharadhapur of the district. Interestingly, one of the looted shops is at a stone’s throw distance from the Khordha SDPO office. The matter came to light after locals spotted the shutters of one the shops open on Thursday morning and informed the Town police. Soon, cops rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. “I reached the spot after getting information about the loots and found the shutter and cash box inside my shop broken. I have lodged an FIR at the police station,” said a trader, whose shop was looted.

Another trader Lalit Nayak said, “The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), Odisha Police and India Reserve Battalion (IRB) camps have been set up in the area, but despite these, loots are being carried out routinely. We do not feel safe here.” The exact amount of money and valuables looted from the shops are yet to be ascertained. Further investigation is on.
