Since the distance between the senior citizens and children is increasing, the latter are getting detached from our culture and tradition, said North Odisha University’s former VC Prafulla Mishra while attending a function on the 6th death anniversary of Narasingha Nanda.
It was organised jointly by the Godabaris Sahitya Sansad and the Utkal Sammilani, Mancheswar branch.
There is a need for the senior citizens to get closer to the young generation, especially children, through social media like facebook and whatshop and teach them about our tradition and culture, Mishra opined.
Among others, scribe Pradosh Patnaik and litterateurs Pabitra Mohanty and Narayan Prasad Choudhury spoke. Jiban Saha was conferred with Narasingha Nanda Smruti Samman on the occasion. Sammilani joint secretary Bibhuti Swain gave welcome address, while vice president Sital Chandra Mohanty offered a vote of thanks.
