The State Government has urged the Centre to send a team to assess the damages caused to paddy crops in view of heavy rains and strong winds triggered by Cyclone ‘Bulbul’, said Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy after a videoconferencing with the Union Cabinet Secretary on Saturday.
Out of the 6 lakh hectares of farmland, 40 per cent of the area has been affected; and the damage report would be submitted to the Centre after an assessment, he said.
Baleswar, Bhadrak, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts were affected due to the natural disaster, Tripathy said.
