A workshop on ‘Preservation of Democracy and Secularism’, was held here jointly by Gajapati district units of the CPI, CPM and the CPI(Ml) liberation on Monday.
Speakers slammed the BJP-led NDA Government for not fulfilling its promises made during the 2014 general elections. “The BJP had promised to bring Achhe Din by removing poverty, providing employment to people, bringing back black money from the Swiss Bank and distributing them among the common people. But not a single promise has been kept yet,” said speakers.
They alleged that communal violence against the minority and Dalit in the name of Gou Rakshak has increased during the last three years.
They alleged further that many journalists, columnists and writers like Govind Pansare, MM Kalburgi, Narendra Dabholkar and Gouri lankesh have been killed during the last three years just because they were writing the truth against misgovernance.
Among others, CPM secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik, CPI Secretary Judhistir Mohapatra and N Narayan Reddy spoke.
Hundreds of people participated in the meeting presided over by CPM district secretary Jona Subash.
