Ganjam Collector Prem Chand Chaudhary on Monday suspended eight Government employees, who had applied for the Ration Card under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Notably, all the Government servants were instructed earlier not to apply for ration card under the Act as they are not eligible for the purpose. The Government employees, who had already applied for the card, were warned for withdrawal of their applications by 30th June, 2015.

Official sources said the administration had launched massive awareness programme regarding exclusion criteria through wall paintings and advertisements in Odia dailies. Besides this, the Government servants were also communicated through their respective Heads of the office vide official letter to withdraw their application within the deadline to which these nine employees did not respond.

In spite of all these, sources said, some Government employees violating the instructions had tried silently for inclusion of their names in the new ration card system in order to avail the benefits of the scheme.

When the matter came to the Collector’s notice, he suspended Chikiti block VlW KD Ramakrishna, Sanakhemundi block Agriculture Overseer Sulochana Das, Maa Kali UP School Teacher at Kalarapadar Prafulla Kumar Patnaik, Sundarpur Primary School Assistant Teacher Balaram Jena from Chikiti block, Purusottampur block’s VlW Mukunda Padhi, Ganjam block’s Nuapalli School teacher Manasita Behera, Dasiamaripali UPS at Bhutasarasingi teacher Sanjukta Panda and Katharagada UPS teacher Renubala Pattanaik of Ganjam.
