To ensure timely completion of various Government projects, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked Secretaries of all departments to make field visits in the first week of every month while declaring the week as ‘no meeting week’.
The Secretaries would begin their mission from Tuesday, official sources saidon Monday.
The Secretaries were asked to review implementation of schemes related to their departments during their visits.
Patnaik asked the Secretaries to pay adequate attention to KBK districts, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Subarnapur, Nuapada, Kandhamal and Gajapati.
He would review the field visit reports of three or four Secretaries randomly every month. The Chief Secretary would review rest of the visit notes.
The Chief Minister has issued such a direction taking the field visits of senior officials seriously for the first time.
However, Secretaries have been asked to attend the public grievance day on Monday and avoid any meeting or tour on that day. Secretaries will attend to public grievances on November 2 (Monday) and move out for field visits fromNovember 3, as per the CM’s direction.
Secretaries would look into the activities of their respective departments and report to Planning and Coordination Department. Then this department would submit the field reports to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the Chief Secretary for further review.
Interestingly, the Secretaries have been asked not to disturb district administrations during their field visits. Now, the Collectors will not be under pressure during visits of the Secretaries.
