South-East Asia is a big draw with Kuala lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok topping the list of international destinations preferred by travellers from Odisha in 2017 in the monsoon season as per a survey by Booking.com.
Travellers prefer visiting the Malaysian resort cities of Kuah, Pantai and the capital Kuala lumpur, the exotic dunes of Dubai and the Indonesian city of Yogyakarta.
The top international destinations for travellers from Odisha are Kuala lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Paris and Kathmandu.
Similarly, the top domestic destinations are Puri, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, New Delhi and Visakhapatnam.
In 2016 Amsterdam, New York, Rome, Milan and Hong Kong were popular destinations for travellers from Odisha. From a domestic point of view, Kumbakonam which was popular in 2016 was displaced by the town of Shirdi in 2017.
Booking .com Indian Sub-Continent head Vikas Bhola said “Since the Indian economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world; the travel market is growing due to increase in consumer spending and incomes. Increasingly we are seeing that travel during the monsoon season has picked up with equal weightage being given to international and domestic travel.”
