Several members of the Odisha Union of Journalists (OUJ), Nabarangpur unit on Monday met Nabarangpur SP Vivekananda Sarma and handed over a memorandum to him seeking action against Chandahandi police for misbehaving a reporter and booking him in a false case.
The team led by OUJ Nabarangpur president Susanta Behera and working president Prasant Kumar Sahu also urged the SP to ensure safety for working journalists in the district.
The SP assured them to conduct an inquiry into their allegation and take necessary action. Md Husen, a reporter of an Odiya daily, was allegedly misbehaved by the Chandahandi police during vehicle checking on October 12 on Chandahandi-Jharigam Main road. Despite, he produced documents on his bike, the police and MV officials used slangs and abused him.
