More than 100 scribes from all the eight blocks, three NACs and Dhenkanal Municipality staged a demonstration before the Dhenkanal Collectorate on Wednesday demanding formulation of a law for protection of journalists on Maharashtra pattern and pension. They condemned the brutal attack by anti socials and police on journalists at Puri, Baleswar, Baliapal and Dhenkanal. The Utkal Journalists’ Association and the District Journalists’ Association led by district president Prasanna Kumar Patnaik, general secretary Pratap Kumar Baral, adviser Pradeep Dash and Manas Rath took out a rally from Baji Rout Chawk with posters, placards and slogans. They submitted a memorandum to the district Collector, addressed to the Chief Minister.
