Scrap land ordinance: CPI (Ml) Red Star

PNS

The Communist Party of India (Marxist-leninist) Red Star State committee on Wednesday staged a rally in front of the State Assembly here protesting against the land ordinance promulgated by the Centre.

Party workers led by its leaders came in a procession from Master Canteen to the lower PMG where they staged a demonstration demanding scrapping of the land Ordinance for the sake of the farmers of the country.

A party delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor urging him to look into the issue seriously and direct the State and the Central Governments to take measures to safeguard the fundamental and constitutional rights of people of the State.

The leaders said the ordinance would undermine the power of the Gram Sabha by diluting the Forest Rights Act, 2006. Party Central Committee member Pramila Behera and Bhubaneswar Area Committee secretary Chintamani Moharana lashed out at both the State and the Centre for helping industrialists and corporate houses by modifying laws of the land. “The ordinance would not only dilute the authority of the Gram Sabha but also choke the public voice on mindless industrialisation,” said Behera.
