A road eviction drive was conducted from NH 203 to Jharpada Special Jail Square on Tuesday for widening of the road by a joint team of the BDA, the BMC, the GA, the R and B Department and the Commissionerate Police. More than 20 AC sheeted houses, four temporary shops, an auto service station, over 30 boundary walls, 10 extended verandahs, 40 unauthorised hoardings and several unauthorised constructions were demolished by the squad. The drive was stopped halfway and the demolition of rest illegal structures would be held in another phase. It was conducted by BDA Enforcement Officer Pramod Kumar Patra, liasioning Officer Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty, BMC Assistant Commissioner Mulla Mahammad and officer on special duty (OSD) Bhaagban Behera from GA Department, among others. Two platoons of gents APR force and one section of lady APR force were deployed at the site to maintain law and order.
