The district administration on Tuesday suspended the teacher of the Katamateru Ashram Vidyalaya in the district who was on Monday severely thrashed by locals for misbehaving with a Class-VI girl student.
District Welfare Officer (DWO) Pratipta Kumar Panda suspended the accused Ashwini Dehury. Earlier, the DWO had sent a team to the spot to conduct a probe into the incident.
The DWO has also served a show-cause notice to the Headmaster of the school in this connection, sources said.
Notably, the teacher had to face the wrath of irate locals for allegedly misbehaving with a girl student of the school frequently. The incident came to fore after a video of the teacher being roughed up by the mob went viral on social media.
