In the wake of heavy floods caused due to low depression-induced torrential rains, Government on Friday announced that all schools and colleges in 13 affected districts including Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Baleswar, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj will remain closed till October 28.
The incessant rains have resulted in waterlogging in many villages and towns of the said districts. The downpours have also hampered relief works in the areas affected by the Phailin and the resultant floods. Due to relentless raining for the past four days, flood situation has been aggravated in south Odisha, particularly in Gajapati and Kandhamal districts, sources said.
