A six-year-old boy suffered critical injuries when a truck hit him near the Banapur Upper Primary (UP) School on the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar National Highway-16 on Monday.
Reportedly, Shankar Das, a student of the Banapur UP School, was commuting on the NH as the service road used by the school kids on a regular basis has been inundated by rainwater. While crossing the road, a speeding truck hit him and fled from the spot.
The minor was rushed to a nearby private hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital here as his condition deteriorated.
Receiving information, the Sadar police reached the accident spot and began an investigation to trace the truck.
