A student in Ganjam district died on Wednesday after an inauguration plaque in the school premises had collapsed on him on Tuesday while he was playing near it.
Sources said that Shyama Das, a Class-VI student of the Aungu Government Upper Primary School in Purushottampur block of the district, was playing near the under-construction inauguration plaque on Tuesday. He was seriously injured and was rushed to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here. But he succumbed to his injuries in his head and chest while undergoing treatment on Wednesday morning.
An unnatural death case was registered in this connection at the Purushottampur police station. A pall of gloom descended on the locality after the boy’s death.
