PNS

The report filed by the district administration through the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) district coordinator clarified that there is no play ground, boundary wall and pucca road in the Nua-Adivasi Colony UP School where the students are tribals. It mentioned that the BDO has been requested to ensure construction of a pucca road to the school, while since there is no Government land in the vicinity of the school, play ground was not feasible.

Notably, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had sought a detailed report on the plight of the tribal students in the Nua-Adivasi Colony UP School from the School and Mass Education department secretary Usha Padhee after a complaint was filed by tribal rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy. There are more than 45 students studying in the school, which is deficient of minimum infrastructure.

Radhakanta had mentioned that all the kids belong to families who have been displaced due to construction of residences of the District Magistrate and various official quarters of the Bhadrak district administration. The parents of the children are unable to construct their own houses and are living in miserable conditions. Tripathy had requested the NCPCR to intervene in the case and depute a team of officials to investigate the case.
