The Odisha SC/ST Gana Shikshak Mahasangha launched an indefinite dharna at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on Thursday demanding better pay and improved working conditions.
Hundreds of para-teachers sat on the dharna on the day. They blamed the Government for forcing them to prolong their agitation.
They announced indefinite strike as the Education Department Commissioner did not furnished them the “Order letter” published in December 2013 as per the payment structure. “Only 69 SC, ST and PwD teachers of the Chief Minister’s Ganjam district have been regularized since December 2013. But around 7200 SC,ST and PwD teachers from the rest 29 district are being neglected. It is a sheer injustice to us,” said Odisha SC/ST Gana Sikhyaka Mahasangha president Prahlhad Badseth.
“This Government is unfaithful. It is cheating us. Order letter Para-7 clearly states that jobs of para-teachers would be automatically regularized on completion of six years in the job,” said Badseth.
