The Supreme Court’s decision on entry of people belonged to other faiths in the Shreemandir is adverse to Hindu religion, a Press release by the Muktimandap, the highest advisory body of the Jaganath Temple, said on Friday.

It said a proposal by the SC to allow non-Hindus in the temple is totally unacceptable and has hurt the Sanatana Hindu religion and its practices. So before taking any measure on the issue, the advices and suggestions of the Muktimandap are most important.

As a supreme body of Hindus and Jagatguru Sankarcharya, its Petha-dhisa, the Muktimandap's decision is not only important but ultimate too, the release said.

Undersigned by Muktimandap working president Biswanath Mishra Sharma, the release said the advices, views and suggestions on such a controversy are subject to Hindu’s religious principles.

These are also based on thesis of Jagatguru Sankarcharya, which are prevailing in the Jagannath Temple. The Mutkimandap holds a right to advice on the issue as the body is supreme in Hindu religion. The highness and supremacy has been endorsed by former President of India

VV Giri, who gave certificate of supreme body for Hindus, the release said.

Muktimandap secretary Ajit Kumar Mishra said in no way can non-Hindus be allowed in the temple and it is subject to religious principles, not observations of judiciary. Before any decision on a contentious issue, the decisions of the Muktimandap is heeded, said Mishra when contacted.
