SBI officers' meet: Anti-PSB policy decried

PNS

The State Bank Of India Officers’ Association, Odisha, Bhubaneswar Circle celebrated its annual general body meeting here on Saturday last in the presence of about 2,500 officers from across the State.

Circle CGM B Venu Gopal Reddy, who inaugurated the meeting, complimented the officers for their efforts in the ongoing KYC, de-duplication and Aadhaar linkage drive.

All India State Bank Officers' Federation general secretary Y Sudarsan, who was chief guest, spoke about the contemporary scenario in bank officers’ trade union movement and the various efforts the federation is taking to better the lot of officers in a non-conducive atmosphere.

He threw light on the anti-PSB (public sector bank) and anti-labour policies of successive Governments and how they affect the lot of the common citizens and bank officers in particular. He stressed on the need to bring about awareness among common people and workers in PSUs and PSBs to build up a resistance against it.

He demanded that the bankers get adequate compensation in their future pay package as they are instrumental for successful implementation of all the Government programmes starting from Aadhaar linkage, financial inclusion, Mudra loan, PMEGP to demonetisation.

The officers are always targeted by all concerned on account of the wrong policy decisions of the high functionaries at the Bank Boards and the successive Central Governments, he alleged.

He also strongly criticised the intentions of the bank managements in connivance with the Government and the MoF to prevent appointment of workmen and officers as director in the Bank Boards for last three years in order to keep their wrongdoings under the cover.

He too criticised the attitude of the bank managements, the Government and the IBA in finalising wage revision for workmen and officers of the banks which is overdue since November 2017.

Earlier, SBI Officers’ Association general secretary Sambit Misra introduced the guests and asked the members to deliberate on the issues confronting the association in setting a roadmap for the next year. SBI Staff Association general secretary SP Behera also spoke on the occasion.

SBI Officers’ Association president Bibekananda Das presided over the meeting and vice-president Arun Kumar Bishoyi offered a vote of thanks.
