ASUTOSH RATHA

Manpower shortage in Gaisilet block in Bargarh district has hindered carrying out of development works. There are only nine PEOs and four junior engineers in the block office. The block has 19 panchayats.

Recently, the association of the Sarpanches met the district Collector and discussed various problems of the people. Beneficiaries of many schemes are not able to get any benefits as they could not be implemented properly due to vacancies in the block office; so they urged the Collector to take early steps to address the issue.

They discussed about old age, disability, widow pension and how that can be easily disbursed to the beneficiaries.

As the primary schools are in a dilapidated condition, they stressed on early repairing of schools and construction of new classrooms.

They demanded installation of street lights in all the villages and clearance of pending salaries of the peons and watchmen in the panchayat offices.

Water is wasted on the roads due to broken pipes in villages through which drinking water is supplied. They demanded mending of the pipes and drinking water supply to all villages.

They also raised issues like maintenance of rural gardens;  disbursement of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana houses and early payment of incentive money to the beneficiaries and NREGS projects.

The district Collector promised to solve a few the issues immediately.
