Vigilance police on Thursday arrested Khordha district’s Ankula gram panchayat Sarpanch Bhagirathi Nayak for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs5,000 from a very poor man to recommend a Mo Kudia house in his name.
Basanta Nayak of Bramhakusadiha village under the Ankula GP of Chilika block had lodged a complaint in this regard on Wednesday.
Acting on his complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and arrested the Sarpanch red-handed while receiving Rs5,000 from the complainant at the Chilika block office at Balugaon.
