The husband of a sarpanch and his associate have been accused of raping a woman at the Jhirpani Gram Panchayat Office on the outskirts of Rourkela.
The incident, which took place on July 7, came to the fore on Thursday when the woman lodged a complaint in this regard at the Jhirpani police station. The police recorded the statement of the woman and began investigation into the allegation.
As per reports, the sarpanch’s husband told the woman to come to the panchayat office to receive rice under a public welfare scheme. When the woman reached the office, the he and his associate allegedly raped her.
