BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik announced Sarojini Hembram as the party’s its candidate for the Baripada Assembly constituency on Sunday.
The Baripada constituency will go to polls in the fourth phase on April 29.
Hembram, currently a Rajya Sabha member, had successfully contested the 2009 assembly polls from the Bangriposi Assembly seat as the BJD nominee. She was a Minister from 2012 to 2014. She was later elected to the Upper House of Parliament in 2014. Now, the BJD has to declare its candidate for one more Assembly seat only, Kendrapada.
