Sao Mines' labourers stage dharna at Joda

PNS

More than 200 workers and staffs of the RP Sao Mines staged a dharna in front of the firm’s office at Joda on Thursday protesting against nonpayment of wages for the last two months.

Sources revealed that the Keonjhar Mining and Forest Workers Union (KMFWU) has given a memorandum to the management in this regard earlier and the DGM (HR) Sibu MV had also committed to make the arrears payment by September 20. But later, they allegedly betrayed the workers.

Being aggrieved by the anti-labour policy of the company, the workers would continue the strike indefinitely till their demands fulfilled.

They also demanded bonus and deposit of PF amount to the employees’ accounts.

The workers had also given a written complain to the District labour Officer and Keonjhar Assistant labour Commissioner.

They demanded that the State Government intervene in the matter.
