The Sambalpur Press Club has extended its support to the Sambalpur District Bar Association (SDBA) on the demand of establishment of a permanent Bench of the Orissa High Court in western Odisha.
Press Club members went to the dharna spot where SDBA members welcomed them.
Among others, Press Club president Tribikram Pradhan, secretary Bhawani Shankar Bhoi and members Arjun Ranjan Panda, Hemanta Kumar Mahapatra, Gargi Satapathy, B Shankar and Sanjay Jena joined the dharna.
Terming the HC bench demand as genuine, they demanded that the Government take early steps for establishment of a bench at Sambalpur without delay.
“If the Government still keeps silent over this genuine demand, then people here will be forced to think for a separate State,” warned Gargi Satapahty.
SDBA president and other members expressed their gratitude to scribes supporting them. It may be noted that the agitation has now reached many villages in the district with meetings are being organised in rural areas to put pressure on the Government for fulfilment of the demand.
