Sambalpur BJD rift out as leaders clash on street

PNS

The differences among the party workers and also different groups in BJD have come to fore with attack and counter attack between two groups in Sambalpur town.

As per information, Debashis Purohit is a frontline political worker of the town; so also is Sumantra Panda. Purohit is also having a social organisation, Sambalpur Bikash Manch, through which he criticizes the ongoing errors and even that of within his own party.

Just a few days back, both had a hot exchange of words over telephone and that took the shape of attack on each other in VSS Marg in the heart of the town leaving both injured.

Both Panda and Purohit have lodged FIRs in the Dhanupali police station and sought an impartial enquiry and action against the culprit.

Matter has also crossed the boundary of police station as some of the supporters of Purohit have met SP of Sambalpur Sanjeev Arora demanding strong action against Panda as he first attacked Purohit on the main road because of his highhandedness.

They have further warned that they would be compelled to take to streets if they do not get justice from police.

However, SP Arora said that two cases have been registered and four persons have been arrested in this case. “Further investigation is going on,” he added.

But, when contacted, Sambalpur MlA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi said, “I don’t believe in violence in politics. I also don’t support indiscipline inside party.”
