Woman Fide Master Saina Salonika of Odisha won gold medal in the Asian Youth Rapid Chess Championship in the under-16 girl category at Chiangmai in Thailand on Sunday. She scored six points out of seven rounds.
Nomindalai Tumurbatar of Mongolia and Mahdavi Mahadis of Iran got the silver and bronze medal, respectively, by scoring 5.5 points each.
This is the 13th international medal for Saina. Daughter of Ganeswar Jena and Babita Jena, Saina is now a Class-X student of the KIIT International School, Bhubaneswar.
